Burke Ramsay
MANAGING PARTNER
Burke Ramsay is an investor and operator. He is currently an active investor in and advisor to a number of small businesses across multiple industries, including Microdea, a transportation focused software business, and EYOS Expeditions, the world leader in super-yacht expedition travel.
From 2007 until 2012, Burke managed Elastic Therapy Inc., a medical device manufacturing business based in North Carolina, which was a third generation family business. During this time, Burke led an operation and salesforce turnaround and a Lean Manufacturing implementation. He initiated and conducted the sale process of the company to a large strategic buyer, DJO Global, in 2011. He worked as an SVP at DJO Global after the acquisition.
Prior to DJO, he was a private equity investor with Bain Capital and Hellman & Friedman, where he invested more than $1Bn in equity over multiple transactions. Representative transactions include LPL Financial, NASDAQ, and Vertafore Inc. He was also a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, focusing on strategy projects across a variety of industries.
He holds an AB degree in Economics with high honors from Princeton University and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
Burke currently lives in central North Carolina with his wife and two young children. When he isn’t chasing his kids around, he loves spending time outdoors and is an avid runner, skier and traveler to far-flung locations around the world.
Neil Schaefer
MANAGING PARTNER
Neil Schaefer is a Managing Partner of Auricle Capital and serves in both investing and operating roles. Neil has been advising or investing in middle market businesses for nearly his entire professional career, which includes direct involvement in over $2 billion of transaction value. Neil is currently the co-President and director of Banister Medical, as well as a director of Elastic Therapy, LLC, both Auricle-affiliated investments.
For nearly 20 years, Neil has been a professional investor focused on small- and medium-sized businesses. During this time, he has completed transactions in a variety of industries, primarily within the industrial and healthcare sectors. His advisory and investment experience includes transactions with Baxter International (medical products), Schramm (capital equipment), SiVance (specialty chemicals), and Engineered Medical Systems (medical contract manufacturing/precision machining).
From 2013 to 2019, Neil was a Principal at Tinicum Incorporated, a private investment partnership overseeing a $2 billion fund focused on long-term ownership of high quality businesses.
Prior to Tinicum, Neil was a Vice President at GenNx360 Capital Partners, a private equity firm with over $1 billion under management focused on acquiring and improving the operations of industrial businesses. In this role, he identified and executed investments and developed value creation strategies in partnership with management teams. He began his investing career at Friend Skoler, a lower middle market private equity firm.
Prior to his career as an investor, Neil was an investment banker at JPMorgan, where he advised public and private healthcare services, medical product, pharmaceutical, and consumer businesses on M&A and capital raising transactions.
He received his AB degree in Politics (Economics Certificate) from Princeton University and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Neil lives in Northern California with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys morning workouts, tennis, cooking, and live music.
